What is Catch Up College?

Hagley’s Catch Up College offers a programme of individualised courses worked out around which subjects and standards you have already completed. It is an intensive programme to help you finish the credits you need to step into tertiary study.

It’s based here at Hagley College, 510 Hagley Avenue, Christchurch.

Hagley’s Intensive Catch Up Programme

Enrolments for 2018 intensive programme open 16th January 2018 – phone the College on (03) 379 3090 to make an appointment.

The programme runs from mid-January until mid-February (to align with tertiary institutions’ cut-off dates for Semester 1 enrolment).
It is primarily designed to meet the needs of students who do not have UE and who are within 6-8 credits of meeting the requirements for UE.

For example, a student may need:

• the 5 reading or 5 writing credits required for UE literacy
• or 6-8 credits towards their NCEA Level 3 Certificate
• or 6-8 credits towards meeting the requirement of 14 credits in each of 3 approved subjects

Hagley’s longer term Catch Up programme

It’s unlikely that students who require more than 6-8 credits towards UE will successfully complete in the time available in Jan/Feb. We would normally recommend that these students enrol in our longer term Catch Up programme with a view to attending a tertiary institution in Semester 2.

Students needing subjects at Level 2 as entry requirements for specific tertiary courses may also enrol in Catch Up College.
