Enrolment Guidelines for the After3 Programme

It is the intention of the After3 programme to cater for the learning needs of Adult and Senior students in a mature learning environment.

Students in the After3 programme must be 16 years or above to enrol. Note: The Hagley College enrolment policy for students under 19 years of age applies (see below). *

Adolescents, under 19 years who are wanting to enrol into the After3 programme:

• Hagley College senior adolescent day school students may in some circumstances make up their fulltime programme with both day and After3 courses.
• These enrolments need the approval from their parent or caregiver, their Dean and the After3 Administration.
• The day school fee structure will apply to any student in both the day and After3 programmes.
• Students should note that while an After3 course might offer them learning in any area they are interested in, it may limit
their ability to gain credits, which is critical, particularly to achieve a Level 2 or 3 NCEA certificate or University Entrance.

Some students aged between 16 and 18 years may have particular circumstances that mean fulltime study is not possible, ideal or appropriate for their needs. In some cases, an exception to the Hagley College enrolment policy for students under 19 years of age is possible. Examples of reasons that may be considered for an exception might include work commitments/parenting commitments/medical issues etc.

If you feel you may be eligible for an exception to the enrolment policy, please explain the circumstances below that you would like considered. Please include details of your preferred programme of study. Please note, an interview may be required to ensure the best programme of study has been selected for the study needs and your future goals.

Adult students 19 years and over:

• The College Enrolment Fee will apply to any student in both the before and After3 programmes.
• Students can study a maximum of up to 20 hours per week. This can be across both day and After3 courses. (Refer to policy below*).
• Students should note that while an After3 course might offer them learning in any area they are interested in, it may limit their ability to gain credits, which is critical, particularly at Level 2 or 3 and for University Entrance (UE).

*Hagley College Enrolment Policy

Year 11 (third year secondary school) Students:
Must study a full time programme of 24 hours a week The programme must include English, Mathematics and one Science subject

Year 12 and 13 Students:
Must study at least 20 hours a week May study a maximum of 24 hours per week English is compulsory until after the completion of year 12 (4 years of secondary school)

For Adult Students:
The maximum number of subjects studied is 5 (20 hours per week)

Digital Citizenship Agreement

• All users agree to the College’s Digital Citizenship Agreement which is available from the College’s web page or upon request.
• Staff may limit student use of ICT equipment at any time.

Five Designated Character School criteria

All students enrolling at Hagley College must meet our Designated Character Criteria:

1. A demonstrated commitment to the College’s values of trust, respect, integrity and personal responsibility.
2. A demonstrated willingness to engage in Hagley College’s culture and environment of being adaptable, flexible and working collaboratively.
3. In the College’s professional opinion there is confidence that the student can be supported and that the College can make a difference to their learning.
4. There is an identified and agreed programme of learning that meets the student’s needs.
5. There are student places available in the programme of learning.

Notice to students, parents and caregivers: posting of student images online.

Hagley College occasionally posts online images of day to day student activities, for example of sports events, field trips or other school events. We follow protocols that images posted depict our students in a positive manner and are not offensive. Please note that students, parents or caregivers may request that a particular image is removed from Hagley social media or its website. Any request should be made to senior administration and include a reason for the request.
